Romans 8:14-15.

“For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.  And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”

Those who are children are lead by the Spirit of God, and those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of the most high God. Being a child means that our God has not abandoned us nor can he do so.  The Spirit will keep leading to places of peace, joy, and righteousness in spite of the flesh and the Devil’s best efforts.  There is no place for a Spirit of fear when we have a Spirit of adoption.  We were once at best orphans who had no rights to God’s divine love, salvation, intimacy, or provision, and at worst we were enemies of God.

We should at that time rightly have a Spirit of fear from the coming wrath and judgment of a Holy God upon us.  But God…  has made us his children and by this we have no fear of neglect, abuse, or punishment both now or in the ages to come.  Anytime we fear or feel anxious it stems back to unbelief that we will not be provided for, and generally it is because we fear, we will not have provision, either spiritual or physical in the manner which we seek for it to be delivered.

However, we can cling closely to the promise of the new spirit of adoption, unceasing love, and unbridled immense and complete care that God has promised to provide from the most minute detail to the largest overarching need.  Since God’s wrath is paid for and his familial love of father, husband, and counselor have been set forth we have nor fear of being abandoned to ourselves, and thus no need for anxiety or self preservation.  Again, since God’s wrath has been satisfied completely in Jesus there is no place for him to punish us or neglect us.  In times that are uncertain, we are as safe in the middle of a pandemic event on a COVD-19 ward as we are in our living rooms, when we have this loving father in control of our lives.  God is both sovereign and loving, God in his mercy and grace has a perfect plan for our lives that is unchanging.

Are you struggling with sin, then God is promising to be with you till he brings you home, and to lead you into higher upon higher grounds of active holiness just as you are perfect in the blood.  Do you have a compromised immune system, God cares more about your life more than you could ever imagine and has chosen your steps accordingly.  Let God’s love quiet you today as  “Abba father” who rules and reigns over you for your good, the good of those around you, and his glory.
