Hello, my name is Scott Busby and, in 2014, I earned a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy degree from Abilene Christian University after graduating from Harding University with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Bible in 2012. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist - Associate under the supervision of Linda Mason, LMFT and I see clients at Metroplex Counseling’s Richardson office. I am a member of the Association of Biblical Counselors, the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and the Texas Association for Marriage and Family Therapy.

I have had the privilege of serving as a counselor to individuals, couples and families during my time as a practicum student at the Marriage and Family Institute and Medical and Counseling Care Center. I also served the students and families of Focus Academy Houston in a counseling capacity.

As a counselor, I am mindful that human beings were created for dependence upon God and his counsel, revealed through his word. Tragically, since the earliest chapters of human history, our race has been marked by a rejection of God’s counsel in favor of other counselors, to devastating effects (Genesis 3). I have borne witness to this devastation as I have walked with clients through the pain and suffering that is characteristic of life in a broken world.

As such, my role as a counselor is to submit myself fully to God, the only perfect counselor, and to encourage my clients to do the same. Though our culture has offered countless solutions to the difficulties we experience in this life, worldly solutions will ultimately fall short of the abundant life (John 10:10) that God has obtained for us through Jesus Christ, the embodied Word of God (John 1:14-18).

As God said through the prophet Isaiah:

“Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live…” (Isaiah 55:2-3)

For those who hear and trust in Jesus, there is life and peace (Romans 8:5-6). Though God has not promised us a painless existence, He has promised us Himself in Christ. And because He is perfectly faithful, there is nothing in all of creation that can separate us from His great love (Romans 8:38-39). It is my utmost desire that my clients remember and stand upon this glorious and transformative truth.

My areas of interest include: men’s issues, anxiety, depression, marriage, pre-marital, parenting, sexual abuse, homosexuality, work-related issues, school-related issues, adolescent behavioral issues, career guidance, death, and mental illness. Furthermore, I have experience working with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum.

When I’m not seeing clients, I love to camp, hike, travel, read, indulge my inner nerd, fellowship with my church family, and spend time with my wife, Rachel. We are members of New Hope Community Church and we reside in Richardson, Texas with our two “fur babies,” Zera and Oliver.
